Dear Reader,
How are you?
Are you enjoying everything the season has to offer? Pumpkin Spice Lattes? Crunching leaves beneath your feet? 🍂
Down in this hemisphere, I am noticing the flaming red buds dotting the sides of each road. The exquisite Flamoyan tree with all its regal beauty, cascading down every part of the island. This really makes Spring and Summer here extra special ❤️
And we are days from Halloween 👻 meaning my pumpkin fairy lights are out, something sweet will be baked, and the Netflix horror section will be binged.
What’s more, and as my wonderful friend Jess says, this also means that Christmas is around the corner 🎄
After revelling in 3 hot ones, I will return to the cool, Wintery season ☃️ which is special in its own way.
I eagerly anticipate the weeks to come. Much like the last few weeks of English lockdown. There are people I need to hug. There are friends whose warm smiles I must admire off the screen 😌
But in the midst of anticipation, I try to stay present.
As I walk the streets, I smell Indian incense. I hear the songs of the local birds, the insistent murmurs of the ocean, the coconut trees gently swaying in the island breeze 🌴
My eyes witness a constant abundance of vibrant greens, proud reds and the brightest of yellows 💛
And as I move, a smooth blanket of heat keeps me perpetually cosy my own skin, whilst the diverse grains of sand are the red carpet of my morning.
That I can be alive in this exact moment, living on a tropical island, with friends, minutes from my Favourite Ocean 🌊
Grounding myself with a few minutes under the delicate kiss of light, to bathe in the peaceful dances of leaves.
And spending my days staring into the eyes of my Eternal Sunshine 🌞☀️
As exquisite as cascading leaves of endless colours, branches reaching all corners of our minds…
Yes, it is Spring here… 🌿
Autumn there…🍂
…and Forever Summer in my heart…💙🌳
